Whilst exploring ideas for a penthouse apartment for a client in Sheffield I came across this beautiful New York apartment design by Kelly Hoppen. I love the use of calm neutral grey fabrics in the curtains and upholstery whilst bringing bright colors to the table with cushions and accessories. – Timeless!
Pooled curtains are not for everyone but here they create a wonderful softness to the straight lines in the furniture and architecture.
I am currently working on a similar scheme using Harlequin’s Shimmer Voiles and the new Momentum collection.
Watch this space - lets hope I can do a Hoppen!

Curtains are a straightforward way to transform any room by adding character and colour. Following these simple steps will guarantee you the best possible fit when it comes to measuring, choosing and fitting curtains in your own home.
to ensure a more accurate curtain fitting. Firstly make yourself aware of any features that could affect the hanging of your curtains such as vents or beams. Measure the opening of the recess, form edge to egde of the window frame. Then you will need to add 15cm at either side to allow the curtains to fall back past the line of the recess and this will be the length the track or pole needs to be. With a pole, the curtains hang beneath, so needs to be fitted at least 15-20cm above the top frame whereas with a track it can be fitted lower at about 10cm above the frame as the curtains hang in front of it.
by choosing the style of your curtains. If a traditional style is desired choose from styles such as pencil pleat, double pinch pleat and triple pinch pleat or for a contemporary finish choose from styles such as tab top, eyelet or weave.
such as plain cotton linings if you want curtains to look neat, backed cotton linings add a thin layer of wadding which work well with delicate fabrics and create depth and, blackout linings are ideal for bedrooms as they keep light out and warmth in.
carefully and accurately. If using a pole, measure its full length and then add 2.5cm to allow the hanging curtains to overlap in the middle when they are closed. If using a track just measure the length however, if the track is one that overlaps in the centre, measure the whole length including overlaps. Then decide on whether you want your curtains to finish at the sill, below the sill or to the floor.
such as tiebacks and trims can add a luxurious and professional feel to curtains and cushions in an accent colour can carry on the theme or pattern throughout the room.

It’s time to refresh your home as texture, florals and colour are set to become key trends in the upcoming spring/summer season. New collections Delphine and Kallianthi by Harlequin offer a refreshing range of floral themed wallpapers and fabrics.
The use of subtle neutral and pastel colours within the Delphine range showcases the tranquillity and elegance of nature and country gardens with a fusion of floral and leafy prints, damasks and crewelwork-inspired embroideries.

The summery palettes within the Kallianthi range mark an exciting collaboration between textile designer Clarissa Hulse and Harlequin. The stunning collection captures Hulse’s remarkable skill in combining distinctive prints and bright colours to create new contemporary designs. Kallianthi means ‘wild flower’ in Ancient Greek and the range demonstrates this meaning with its use of rambling flower prints and natural leaf patterns.
A clever use of texture gives both of these luxurious collections an added dimension to help you dramatically brighten and transform your interiors in an instant whether it be the addition of new cushions, upholstery, curtains or wall designs.
